Telling the Truth....
Process for Critical Evaluations of Change-Oriented
Work
Written by Grace End
Pittsburgh, PA
At a basic level, frustrating pseudo-campaigns stem from a lack
of clear, attainable goals; and from a lack of adequate evaluations
of progress. When groups do evaluate their progress, and document
it for similar groups, a campaign or group can leave its wisdom
and experience in circulation after dissolving, and each of our
little efforts can be a part of a more cohesive movement. Continue

How to Cancel an Election and Suppress Dissent
at the Same Time
By Brandon Batzloff
Editor, Free Voices
Recent news about the possibilities of election delays have brought
Americans face to face with what we fear most-the end of democracy.
Questions about such delays were prompted by an announcement that
Al Qaeda was planning on attacking the Democratic and Republican
National Conventions. Since that time there has been a flurry of
news and announcements that only serve to make things a little more
confusing. To truly understand what is happening we must look at
the facts. Continue

Free Speech Cannot be "Zoned"
The Black Tea Society
Boston, MA
Scattered throughout El Salvador, Indonesia, and other so-called
"developing" nations are what are known as Export Processing
Zones (EPZs). These zones, sometimes referred to as maquiladoras
in the Spanish-speaking world, are walled off from the surrounding
countryside and house manufacturing plants designed to cheaply and
efficiently produce consumer goods for sale in the American marketplace.

Don't go Zendik
Re: Finding the Line Between Collective Community and Collective
Insanity
From George Smith
Carborro, NC
I went to Pride in Atlanta a few weeks ago. This was the first time
in Atlanta in 28 years (an interesting, albeit bizarre experience
all in itself), where I visited a friend I met at a Gay Spirit Vision
retreat at The Mountain near Highlands. I ran into one of the Zendik
Farm folk. Continue

King MacBush II: A Shakespearean Tragedy
of War, Greed, and Strategerie
By Seth Goldstein, Producer
New York, NY
....a raucous political satire of the ruling Bush dynasty and its
royal court. A wicked mélange of current events and plots
and relevant characters from several of Shakespeare's history plays,
particularly the Henry IV and V works, "King MacBush II"
skewers the hypocrisies of the ruling political parties and raises
questions about the direction the country is taking.... Continue

Storytelling....
A Bent Thread
Robin Marie Ward
Pacifica, CA
In New York exists my homeland. Raised on the fertile hills and
freshwatered mountains I was. A mix of culture founded me with post-traumatic
and Diaspora tribesman, boat people, from both sides of the Atlantic.
Their common ancestors buried beneath the watery sheen. Their common
ancestors 7500 years ago, sailor people.... Continue

Last Word....
Thanks everyone for another great issue. Grace End's call for Critical
Evaluation is extremely important. If you conduct such evaluations
in your own group or organization, feel free to send them in for
publication. We could all learn from your experience!
I am looking for stories on three upcoming events. The Democratic
National Convention, The DNC2RNC march, and the Republican national
Convention. If you are interested in writing about any of these
events please contact me. There are specific issues that i would
like the writer to keep in mind.
peace love victory,
