Telling the Truth.... STARWARS Sequel is a Catastrophe in the Making

In a press conference this January, the Bush administration renewed its commitment to the exploration of the moon and Mars. To those of us who remember when George Bush Sr., during his bid for re-election, publicized a similar proposal in his 1989 State of the Union address, this strategy may seem a bit imitative, especially in light of the current budget deficit and the ongoing conflict in Iraq. Despite Bush’s desire to “promote international and commercial participation in exploration to further U.S. scientific, security, and economic interests”, aspects of this project, such as the moon-base the United States anticipates developing, have raised several concerns and ignited international tensions reminiscent of a Cold War-era arms race. Structures such as these are in violation of the United Nations Moon Treaty: although this is one of the many UN agreements that the U.S. has refused to sign. In addition, the militarization of space violates the Outer Space Treaty of 1967, an agreement that has been habitually ignored by the U.S. since even before the STARWARS era of President Reagan. Why do Fascists so often manage to get the upper hand? The main reason is the inability of the Left to unite and organize against them. In the case of Benito Mussolini, Italian Liberals, Socialists, and Catholics could easily have blocked him by uniting against him, but couldn't agree on anything. Catholics refused to align with Socialists, who were anti-clerical and "godless," or Liberals, who were agnostics and "pernicious influences." Socialists thought Liberals didn't go far enough.
